Luigi Lavazza S.p.A. is an Italian roasted coffee company founded in 1895 in Turin by Luigi Lavazza.
Its founder was Luigi Lavazza, who, having moved from Murisengo to Turin, took over Paissa & Olivero, a small fiat in the heart of Turin. The grocery store, an embryo of the current company, began operations on March 24, 1894, although Lavazza's birth is commonly traced back to 1895.
Through skillful use of blending, an art still unknown to its competitors (who simply sold coffee in a single variety), the Lavazza grocery store expanded and, needing more space, moved in 1910 to 10 Via San Tommaso, where a family-owned coffee bar and restaurant is currently located.
