The hill of St. Magdalena in the north of Bolzano gives this South Tyrolean classic its name. Vernatsch and Lagrein grow side by side in the vineyard.
Grape varieties: Vernatsch and Lagrein.
Growing region/climate: Loose moraine soils on the hills of St. Magdalena, St. Justina, and Leitach at 200 to 500 meters above sea level.
Harvest: Mid-September to early October.
Vinification: Vernatsch and Lagrein are harvested and fermented together. Part of the wine is aged in large wooden barrels.
Pairs well with: Snacks, appetizers, meat and cheese dishes, pizza.
