The vines grow on the slopes of the St. Magdalener area above Bolzano at an altitude of 200–300 meters above sea level. The St. Magdalener “Moar” is characterized by the unique interplay of location, age, and cultivation of the vineyard and captivates with its fruity and floral notes and full, velvety taste. The nose reveals the cherry, marzipan, and violet tones typical of St. Magdalener.
Grape varieties: Vernatsch 85% and Lagrein 15%
Growing area/climate: Gravelly porphyry soils in St. Magdalena above Bolzano
Harvest: Early to mid-October
Winemaking: Carefully selected grapes are fermented traditionally and aged in large oak barrels.
Pairing: Meat dishes such as carne salada and ribbon noodles with game ragout, white meat, smoked meats, dumplings, bacon, pasta, and hard cheese.
