Kahlúa is a Mexican coffee liqueur brand. The liqueur is made from rum, coffee, sugar cane and vanilla.
The Mexican Pedro Domecq first produced Kahlúa in the city of Veracruz in 1936. The name means “home of the Acolhua” in their Nahuatl language and refers to the island now called San Juan de Ulúa in the harbor basin of Veracruz.
The caffeine content of Kahlúa is 100ppm: similar as Coke
The liqueur can be used pure as a digestif after a meal, or also wonderfully mixed for use in cocktails. Kahlua can be found in the Black Russian, for example, in which it is mixed with vodka.
