Lagrein, one of South Tyrol's and the Bolzano Winery's most typical red wine varieties, thrives in the valley floor around Bolzano, where there are significant temperature differences between day and night. The very old vines produce a wine of above-average quality, with concentrated but velvety tannins, juicy fruit, and a robust body.

Growing area/climate: Vines over 80 years old on warm, sandy alluvial soils in Gries near Bolzano, 270 meters above sea level.
Harvest: End of September to mid-October.
Vinification: After traditional red wine fermentation in wooden barrels, the young wine is aged for about a year in French barriques.
