Description

Frankfurter sausages (or “Frankfurters” for short) are thin cooked sausages made from pure pork in sheep casings (small intestines). Their special flavor is achieved through a special smoking process at low temperatures.

Frankfurter sausages are not cooked before eating, but only heated in hot water for about eight minutes, as otherwise the skin bursts open quickly. They are traditionally eaten in pairs with mustard or horseradish and bread or potato salad.
